About Nicholas Orvis
Nicholas Orvis is a director and dramaturg, currently enrolled in the 2022 MFA Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism class at the Yale School of Drama. He spent four years as the Literary Associate and Resident Dramaturg at Premiere Stages at Kean University, a new play development theater located in Union, NJ. He has also worked in various capacities for the administrative and artistic wings of Portland Stage Company, New Dramatists, and the Shakespeare Theater of New Jersey, as well as for many independent theater companies in and around New York.
In July 2017, Nick directed the Strawberry Festival's Best Play winner Sick and Tired, the story of civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer. Writer/performer Diane Parker was nominated for Best Actress, and Nick received a nomination for Best Director!
Nick is a co-founder of Tandem Theatre Collective, an ensemble of geographically dispersed artists from a variety of disciplines committed to developing new work in the 21st century. You can learn more about Tandem on their website, here.
